What is Fail Over Internet, and why do you need it?
Hurricane Helene has made business owners aware of just how fragile the internet is, and how critical it is for commerce. Across Upstate South Carolina offices have struggled to do business with no internet. Work from home was not an option because the entire region suffered outages. This situation left most people using cell phone hotspots just to use email and maybe some light internet usage. But what happens when you need to use that network printer, or another shared network resource, while on your hotspot? It gets frustrating very quickly and a lot of time is wasted. There are ways to avoid this situation.
All businesses have one internet connection. What about a second internet connection that does not require a physical connection? There are services by AT&T, Verizon, and Starlink that can be used as a “backup” internet connection. Network hardware is available that allows for an automatic switch over from a primary internet connection to a “backup” or Fail Over connection. The systems will automatically switch to the wireless connection in the event of an outage of a primary internet connection.
Let’s have the conversation.
